ATS testing

ATS testing The Academic Talent Search (ATS) Qualifying Exam will be offered at the Western Sierra campus on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
ATS is a non-profit program that offers 4th-9th grade students (grade level as of Jan. 1, 2015) exciting, interesting classes designed to accelerate learning in subject areas they enjoy. Each summer, these students have the opportunity to challenge themselves in traditional and non-traditional subjects, meet new friends from other schools, and experience a collegiate environment.
The first step toward participating in ATS is to take the Qualifying Exam.
Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser

Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser A.C.E.S has decided to start the annual Pop Top fundraiser, which is also for the Ronald McDonald House. This time, though, we've decided to extend it from January to March! Whenever you pop a Coke, just remember that if you bring it to school, you can help the Ronald McDonald House support a family.
Super Speller

Super Speller Dhriti Jagadish is representing Rocklin Academy at the California Central Valley Spelling Bee. The event will be held at 9:30 am, Wednesday, March 4th at the Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento. Congratulations and good luck to Dhriti!

The points are in addition to the actual label on the product, it earns us double points every time you buy participating products. We earn points more quickly and can use them to buy supplies/equipment for the school. Ask family members to register their card as well.
Giving Campaign at Work!
Through the Giving Campaign, the school has renewed their Raz-Kids license for $599.70. In addition, the PSP received $244.24 through California Pizza Kitchen Fundraising event. Thank you to the families who participated! Furthermore, with the help of the Head Room Parent and Room Parents, we organized a successful Teacher Appreciation treat week during November's Conference week to show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the students.
Planned Absences/ISPs

Planned Absences/ISPs Planning to travel during school days? Per the Student/Parent Handbook: Parents are to give at least five (5) days' notice prior to a request for Independent Study (ISP).
Independent Study includes absences of one or more full days. Please email your child's teacher and Renae Howell (rhowell@rocklinacademy.org) five (5)+ days in advance when planning your child's absence from school. Doing so allows the time to prepare work packets to help students stay caught up during the absence. Absences 3 days or more will require a meeting with the Principal. Thank you for your consideration.
Student Absences

Student Absences If your child is absent, please call the absence line by 8:30 am at 916-632-6580 the day your child is absent. If you know your child will be out for more than one day (i.e., due to fever, flu diagnosis, travel, etc), please state how many days you expect them to be absent,
Please note per the Rocklin Academy Handbook:
1.) Children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school (fever is defined as 100 F or higher
2.) Children waiting results from a throat culture must remain at home until a negative result is known
3.) Children with a positive strep culture must be treated with prescribed antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school
4.) Children that have been vomiting or have had diarrhea must remain home until the vomiting or diarrhea has stopped for 24 hours.

Afterschool Safety Precautions

Afterschool Safety Precautions To help keep our school pick-up running smoothly and to keep everyone safe, please follow the following safety precautions:
1. Do not arrive before 3:00. Rocklin Elementary's dismissal is at 2:55, and we need to help keep the pick-up area clear until after 3:00.
2. If there is a line of cars on Meyers St.waiting to pull into the school parking lot, please pull over as far as possible to the right, without blocking any driveways. This way, traffic driving past will not cross over the double yellow lines and the risk of accidents will be reduced.
3. Never block the sidewalk when pulling into the parking lot. A clear path needs to be kept for pedestrians.
