Science Fair Update (2/13/2012)
By now I am sure your 4th, 5th & 6th graders are feverishly working on their experiments for the upcoming Science Fair. As you know, judging will take place in the classrooms on Thursday, March 1st. The kids will proudly display their experiments for friends and family on Friday evening, March 2nd from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. With the continuing State budget struggles, our school needs as much help as possible to fund the quality education our kids receive. To that end, we will be offering a Snack Bar during the Science Fair on Friday evening, March 2nd. Proceeds from the Snack Bar will go back to our classrooms to help fund science instruction throughout the year. There are several different ways you can help. 1. We are looking for parents who can help transport the kids' display boards from Meyers over to WSCA on Friday after school. 2. We need parents to donate items for the snack bar. Bring any nonperishable items to your child's class. Any home-made or perishable items can be brought directly to WSCA on the 2nd - by 5:00 pm, please. 3. We need parents to help set-up and clean-up the Snack Bar. 4. We need parents to help sell and serve items at the Snack Bar during the Science Fair - this will be in 30 minute shifts. To sign-up, please go to either (or both) of these Sign-Up Genius links Food Donations: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A44A9AD2BA31-rascience Transport or Volunteer Time: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A44A9AD2BA31-science If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Julee at accacian@gmail.com or by phone at (916)284-4595. |

Rocklin Academy Wants You to "Just Ask": "What do we do with used printer cartridges?" (2/2/2012)
Since 2011, Rocklin Academy, Meyers has been recycling empty laser and inkjet cartridges, used cell phone, iPods, MP3 players, and digital cameras through Funding Factory's fundraising-thru-recycling program. In an effort to expand their recycling fundraiser, Rocklin Academy is prompting local individuals to go to FundingFactory.com/Disney and pledge to "Just Ask" their employers: "what do we do with used inkjet and laser cartridges?' If these companies are not already recycling empty cartridges, they can register at FundingFactory.com to support a School or Nonprofit with the value of their recyclables. When they pledge to "Just Ask," those individuals are entered for a chance to win a Walt Disney World vacation for four and $500 for Rocklin Academy, Meyers. Make a pledge to "Just Ask" at FundingFactory.com/Disney. When prompted, enter Rocklin Academy's organization ID# 303080 to show your support for our fundraising program.
