Reading in the Classroom

Reading in the classroom is at the forefront of the education our students receive here at Rocklin Academy Meyers.  Whether reading independently, with a buddy, or in a small group, reading is at the core of every student’s learning.  We are proud that our students read fiction and non-fiction text to access knowledge.  Highlighted here is Mrs. Putkey reading Elephant Dance to her 2nd grade students.  Students not only learned about the culture of India through this children’s book but they were also able to see the location and shape of India on a map.  All this is accessible to our students through the Core Knowledge Curriculum!

Then we have 1st graders in Mrs. Gomez's class who are learning how to buddy read and take turns. They read from their skills books, Raz-Kids, and from their classroom libraries. These adorable pictures show Mrs. Gomez's students reading. All the furniture that they are so cozy in were purchased by the Annual Giving Campaign (AGC) donations! Thank you families for supporting our classroom learning environments!
