Dear Rocklin Academy Meyers Families,
Welcome back to the new school year! We have officially closed our first week of school and even in this short amount of time, students are thriving in the classrooms! Our students have begun to engage in learning through our Core Knowledge curriculum. 1st graders are reading a collection of fables and 6th graders are exploring deserts around the world. What an exciting place to be and learn!
A vital component to a new school year is to communicate expectations so that student feel safe to learn and play on campus. Our teachers have been reviewing our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) matrices and rewarding positive behaviors and actions observed. Also to help students feel safe on campus, our classrooms have started their In Focus social and emotional curriculum. The focus for all students this week is Safety. This includes creating a safe environment, respecting the need for safety of others, and building a sense of belonging. It has been endearing to see students share compassion and understanding for one another during these lessons.
Building community is essential to the Rocklin Academy Meyers campus. Just this week, we had many events supported by the school staff, PSP board members, and our parent volunteers. Meet the Teacher was a great time to connect with staff and the students enjoyed their scavenger hunt to learn more about the school facilities and some fun facts. Also, the feedback from families about Back to School Night was quite positive. It was wonderful to speak with you at the Principal Message session to share with you our progress on our Strategic Plan Goals and it was wonderful for teachers to share with you all the wonderful curriculum and opportunities your child will experience this year. Then to culminate a remarkable week of coming together as a community, the Back to School Picnic was a success! Thank you to all who came out and we hope to see you at more events in the future!
We are looking forward to an incredible year!
