Our amazing 4th grade class was rewarded for their recent efforts to become a “Certified Kind” classroom. Last Thursday, Mrs. Moffitt’s class was invited to an advance screening of the movie Wonder. Students enjoyed seeing the film after recently reading the award winning novel. Seeing the advance screening was part of a prize that also included a Q & A session with three of the film’s actors. The students enjoyed the day but the take away from the experience goes well beyond the theater.
Here at Rocklin Academy Meyers, we strive to provide a safe learning environment for all students. We teach our students kindness and ask them to model kindness to others. This is evident in our PBIS work to create a common language of respect, responsibility, safety, and resourcefulness. Our school focus on the Keys of Excellence has also brought up conversations of having Integrity and Ownership of the actions one takes. All these discussions around kindness and respect for one another is an essential part of our learning environment. Mrs. Moffitt’s class is just one of seven classes that work towards building respect in the classroom. I would like you to join me in thanking the 4th grade class and all RA students, for following this quote from the book, “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
