At Rocklin Academy, educational and safe field trips that align with our Core Knowledge curriculum and Common Core State Standards, are identified and coordinated each year to support student learning. In sixth grade, students attend a science camp to enhance their curriculum in a minds-on/hands-on way. Our sixth grade students are at Sly Park this week and are having a fantastic time!
Some activities that students have participated in so far include: How to build shelters, hiking (with fantastic views!), learning about different types of animals, learning how to use a compass and a GPS system to geo-cache. Many students went rock climbing too! Last night, they had a great time singing "camp songs" and two of the groups went on their night hike. They are truly having a great time filled with lots of memories, learning, and team building!
