Our Core Knowledge highlights usually focus on living history or our engaging hands on science but the focus of our curriculum encompasses so much more!
This week we want to highlight the work of our 5th grade classroom and their studies in English Language Arts. Our class is reading the novel of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. Having the opportunity to be exposed to this helps our students build a foundation of rich vocabulary, understanding literary devices and terms, and learn to read for enjoyment. The students become analytical readers and then spend time writing to convey their thoughts and opinions on fictional text. While the class is completing their novel study, they have been gathering ideas to help them when writing opinion essays on whether Don Quixote's intentions are justifiable by his actions.
We are so proud of our students and the work they do which leads to academic growth!
