Measure of Academic Progress

Dear Rocklin Academy families,

This week, on September 10th, we began our research based assessments called Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) for grades K-6. We are giving the students MAP Growth assessments to determine your child’s instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of Language Arts and Mathematics. Your child is taking their assessments on an iPad in their classroom within the next two weeks. Your child’s teacher will share which specific days their class will be testing within that window.

MAP assessments are unique in that they adapt for your child’s level of learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. This is our sixth year of using MAP Growth assessments. Teachers are able to utilize this data to identify areas of concern and areas of strength. Using this data, and other measures, we are able to differentiate learning and meet the needs of all learners. Over the next couple of weeks, as students complete the MAP assessments, teachers will be working collaboratively as a team to identify areas of focus for their students. Teachers will be conferencing with students individually to share their successes and set individual goals with them. We will send the assessment results home with your child the middle of October.  Assessment data is not shared with any entity outside of Rocklin Academy.

Warm regards,

Trisha LeRoy Smith
