What a fantastic night of parent learning offered to our families from all three Rocklin Academy elementary campuses. Last Wednesday, February 27th, families from Meyers, Turnstone and Gateway came together for our first ever Parent Academy where parents got to choose from teacher-led courses covering topics such as Growth Mindset, our InFocus curriculum, math and reading strategies, and technology safety. The evening started in the multipurpose room with Trisha Smith, Principal of Meyers, sharing an update of our RAFOS Strategic Goals and providing information on how Parent Academy came to be. Then our expert and professional teaching staff led sessions to communicate with families, strategies of support and extension activities to use at home, provide information on our curriculum and teacher philosophy in the classroom, and many sessions gave information on how to read state standards and what expectations could look like over the years from K-6. Feedback from the event was incredibly positive and encouraging. Due to the success of the evening, it is our hope to provide more opportunities in the future. Thank you to all of those who were in attendance and if you have not already completed your parent survey, please look in your email inbox and provide information to help us plan the next Parent Academy during the 2019-2020 school year!
